ABOUT THE CONWAY NOON LIONS CLUB

The Conway Noon Lions Club was formed August 3, 1946 with 44 members. Dr. Stephen S. Barlow served as the charter President. Our club has dedicated their efforts to helping the blind, visually and hearing impaired and has furnished hundreds of eyeglasses to children and adults.

We have several money raising projects that furnish us the resources to help those in need and to support State and International efforts. We have supported:

  • Lions World Services for the Blind
  • Mid-South Sight and Hearing Center
  • Lions Diabetes Center
  • Leader Dog
  • Lions Clubs International Foundation
  • Arkansas Eye Bank and Laboratory
  • Conway Boys and Girls Club
  • Toad Suck Daze and
  • The Faulkner County Fair

We have sponsored the Mid-Winter Forum and State Convention and contributed to District Functions. Our club has furnished four District Governors, one Council Chairman and several Zone and Region Chairpersons. We have one active Past District Governor and one past District Secretary/Treasurer. Our members have contributed their time to the Board of Directors for Lions World Services for the Blind and Mid-South Sight and Hearing Center, two members serving as President of the Board for Lions World Services for the Blind. We have sponsored four new clubs and are on the alert for new places to start others.

We meet every Tuesday at noon at the Brewer-Hegeman Center, on the University of Central Arkansas Campus, in Conway. We look forward to having Lions and Non-Lions visit our meetings. We have a membership of over seventy and are planning to expand that number to ninety in the next two years. Our meetings give us an opportunity to enjoy good food and fellowship.
